Membership Overview

VOTING MEMBERS

Each Voting member is required to attend Regular business meetings June through May which coincides with our fiscal year. Meeting will be a combination of daytime and evening meetings. The Holiday Luncheon is optional, but the May Annual Meeting is a required meeting for all Voting members. If a member is going to miss a meeting, she must notify the Assistance League of Newport-Mesa business office in advance; three excused meeting absences are permitted per year.

 

Financial Commitment:

  • Annual Dues $110.00
  • Hospitality at Regular meetings $ 75.00
  • Background Check (one-time fee) $ 10.00
  • Annual Special Event (one ticket) $200.00 (approx.)
  • December Holiday Luncheon (optional) $ 40.00 (approx.)
  • May Annual Meeting Luncheon $ 40.00 (approx.)
  • Apron (optional) $ 20.00

 

Service Hour Commitments

Voting members are required to serve a minimum of 42 service hours per year. Full-time working members and Assisteens Responsible Adult members are required to serve a minimum of 21 service hours per year. Service hours may be served in the Thrift Shop, Treasures on Consignment, The Cheri Harris Dental Center, Operation School Bell or Kids on the Block. (Work shifts in the shops are divided in two 3 ½ hour periods per day.) Each member is responsible for reporting their service hours each quarter. Half of all required service hours must be served by November 30th.

 

Voting members are asked to serve on at least one committee. Members with students in the Assisteens Auxiliary may use their Assisteens committee hours towards their Chapter committee requirement.

 

NON-VOTING MEMBERS

PAL Members (Partner of Assistance League)
· Annual Dues $ 60.00

 

PAL members are required to serve a minimum of 63 service hours per year. Service hours may be served in the Thrift Shop, Treasures on Consignment, The Cheri Harris Dental Center, Operation School Bell or Kids on the Block. (Work shifts in the shops are divided in two 3 ½ hour periods per day.) Each member is responsible for reporting their service hours each quarter. Half of all required service hours must be served by November 30th.

 

REPORTING SERVICE HOURS

All time spent volunteering for Assistance League of Newport-Mesa must be reported, including but not limited to, time spent in regular and board meetings, committees, leadership meetings or national conferences, adult Assisteens responsibilities, fundraising activities, as well as all service hours in the shops. All service and committee hours are reported quarterly: August 31, November 30, February 28 and then by April 15 for the quarter and year ending May 31.
